Giving
Invest in the future.
"Concordia has become a college that educates people from the widest variety of backgrounds and experiences, yet the same faith on which we were founded in 1881 grounds us today, and will keep us growing into the future."
– Rev. Dr. John A. Nunes, President

Our
DONORS
Concordia College has been a beacon of light, and a foundational personal and professional pillar for my daily life. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to support Concordia in any way I can.
"Concordia College has been a beacon of light and always served as a personal and professional foundational pillar for my daily life. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to support it in any way I can. We all know how educational institutions, especially small ones such as Concordia, depend on the generosity of its alumni to continue to thrive and to deliver on its timeless commitment to making our world a better place. The pandemic has inexorably made this symbiotic relationship all the more important! I feel grateful and humbled to give to my alma mater; I have no doubt that every dollar donated helps advance Concordia’s Christian and educational mission."
We have been very impressed with the changes we have observed over the years, and want to continue to be a part of Concordia’s transformative growth.
"Joanne and I met at Concordia in 1961 and graduated together in 1963. We were married in 1966 while I was studying at the Seminary in St. Louis, and she was teaching at one of the local St. Louis Lutheran parochial schools. Our lives together started in Bronxville, and we’ve always appreciated the fact that the smaller student body at Concordia enabled us to get to know each other and every one of our classmates in a very close way. We are still in touch with many of those good friends and have great memories of our time on campus. Out of all the schools we attended, we’ve always considered Concordia the favorite. We try to return “home” for a visit whenever we are in the area.
We believe it’s important that alumni let others know how much the school means to them by supporting their alma mater financially. That shows prospective students and their families that we value and respect what the school stands for and appreciate the time we spent there. It tells people we are glad we made the decision to attend Concordia and want others to know about a place where they can experience lives of fulfillment and learning in a small school environment with big school opportunities.
We feel a tremendous sense of pride and satisfaction in helping Concordia continue to grow and improve in so many areas, knowing that our contributions have helped make the school even better. We have been very impressed with the changes we have observed over the years. Each time we return we are amazed at how much the college has grown in its physical plant, its offerings of new courses of study, and its ability to attract such a diverse and dynamic faculty and student body.
We want very much to continue to be a part of the college’s transformative growth, and we are committed to helping Concordia achieve even greater impact on the lives of so many people who are looking for a college home. By supporting Concordia, we hope to enable the college to reach even more students with the promise of a place where they can live their lives with purpose, as they live in service to their church, community and the world around them."
Through donating, I hope to give students experiences that will help them succeed in the next stage of their career, whether it be grad school or a first job. ar for my daily life. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to support Concordia in any way I can.
"It's important to donate to Concordia because it allows opportunity for the students to learn, grow, and be future productive citizens. I feel good that I am able to donate to Concordia because I appreciate what Concordia did for me as a student. I hope that with my donations students receive experiences that will help them be successful for the next stage in their career, whether it be grad school or first job."
To be able to give to Concordia monthly is truly a blessing in our lives. We have faith in our alma mater to continue to serve its students with faith, fellowship, and academics.
"We have been supporters of Concordia because we feel that it is important to give back as alumni. Christ-centered education is important to us as a family, and Concordia provides that element to their students daily. Andrew and I look back on our time at Concordia fondly. We loved the small classes, that our professors knew us as people – not numbers, and that we were surrounded by positivity in the student body and faculty. When we look back on our time at Concordia, we loved Reading Days in the city, midnight homeless runs to feed those in need in the city, Band Bash in the quad, and time spent with friends in the Commons. We support Concordia because we want others to be able to have that same experience. We want future generations to have the chance to be mentored by Christian Professors, that want the best for their students, and who fully invest in their student’s future.
We believe that it is important for alumni to give to Concordia because with great blessings come great responsibilities. We are lucky that we are in a place where we are able to give back to a school that gave us so much. As alumni who are able to give, donating to Concordia shows the students that we have faith in the quality Christ-centered education that they are receiving, and I think that is important for current and future students to see. We have faith in our alma mater to continue to serve its students with faith, fellowship, and academics.
To be able to give to Concordia monthly is truly a blessing in our lives. We are proud that we are able to give back to our alma mater. By giving to Concordia we know our school will be around for future generations to experience the same small campus, but see the impact that each individual can have on the world.
Our hope in giving to Concordia is that those who find themselves attending school there, either in person or online, are blessed with a quality education that centers around the resurrection of Christ. We hope that the students who are at Concordia find their vocation, not “just a job” when they graduate. We hope that in their vocations they are filled with a joy that spreads to others, that they have passion for their future, and that they serve the Lord in all that they do. That is the difference we hope our monthly donation to Concordia makes. Our vision is one in which the students go out into the world with commitment to the Lord and passion to make it a better place."
We feel it is up to us as alumni to financially support the school for future generations. You could call it paying our blessing forward.
"My wife Doris and I continue to support Concordia with both our prayers and our finances. We believe in its mission to provide a quality education for young people in a Christian environment. I benefited from this when I attended four years in the Prep School, and both of us attended two years in the then Junior College graduating in 1963. These years were some of the best years of our lives. Fond memories abound.
Concordia College does not exist in a vacuum. Prior to our attending, many people had sacrificed both their time and efforts to begin and to sustain the school. They also supported it generously with their money. If it were not for them, we would not have had the Concordia experience. Likewise, we feel, it is up to us to financially support the school for future generations. You could call it paying our blessing forward.
God calls us to make a difference with our lives. Supporting our Alma Mater is one fine way to do this. Whenever we write a check, it is a happy expression of thanksgiving for both the blessings we received when we attended as well as the joy of helping provide such a great school for others."

Sommer Center:
A Vision for Our Shared Future
Sommer Center for Worship and the Performing Arts has been at the heart of Concordia College since 1982. Beloved by students, faculty, staff, and the wider community alike, Sommer and the adjoining chapel have hosted countless events, from baptisms to weddings, convocations to commencements, student recitals to Hoch Series performances by revered musicians and performers. Sommer is also the site of Concordia College’s popular Books & Coffee events, the Sluberski Film Series, the Jacobson Lecture Series, and the annual Dialogues on the Quad event. The campaign Sommer Center: A Vision for Our Shared Future has identified key upgrades to ensure that the venue will remain a vital community and college resource.
The $300,000 campaign’s vision includes upgrades to the lobby, creating a welcoming space reflecting a rich legacy of performance and worship, functional across the spectrum of users and experiences. New lighting will ensure a beautifully illuminated chapel and auditorium equipped with intelligent, adaptive, energy-efficient LED lighting. A modern audiovisual system will enable dynamic, innovative programming with multimedia content.
