Suzuki Program

Children playing violinsConcordia Conservatory offers Suzuki instruction in guitar, violin, and cello for children as young as age three. As in the traditional method of instruction, students are given weekly private lessons with one of our faculty members, and attend weekly group classes to further develop their musical skills. Parents and caregivers also participate, attend lessons and classes, and supervise home practice.

The Suzuki method of music education is now a well-established pedagogical technique. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, a western-trained professional violinist, developed the system to give musical instruction to the children of postwar Japan.

  • Students age three and above may enroll in the Suzuki Program.
  • The parent/caregiver is actively involved in all aspects of the child’s musical development, attends all lessons and classes, and receives training to be a home teacher.
  • No prior musical experience is necessary.
  • The tuition includes 16 weekly private lessons and 12 weekly group lessons.

Tuition:

  • $740 (16 20-minute private lessons/12 group classes/1 Semester or year-long)
  • $925 (16 30-minute private lessons/12 group classes/1 Semester or year-long)
  • $1,400 (16 45-minute private lessons/12 group classes/1 Semester or year-long)

Group classes in cello, guitar, and violin will be held Monday-Sunday to be scheduled by Suzuki Head Hubert Chen upon registration.
