Chamber Music

Why Chamber Music?
Chamber music provides students of all ages with the opportunity to enhance their performance skills and expand their musical insight and awareness through coaching sessions. The faculty coach’s role is to be a musical guidance counselor/facilitator.

The Conservatory Chamber Music Program objectives:

  • Reading a musical score: analyzing and evaluating
  • Preparing the individual musical parts and learning non-verbal techniques of communication
  • Active learning and performing

Program Details
This program is for students of all ages who have had one or more years of private instruction, and is open to students who study privately with the Conservatory faculty as well as with outside teachers. Participants will be grouped in ensembles according to their skill level.

The program takes place in both fall and spring semesters, and consists of eight, 45-minute coaching sessions with a faculty coach each semester for vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Coachings
Ensembles meet Fridays or Saturdays on the Bronxville campus, and Mondays or Thursdays on the Stamford campus; exceptions can made when possible.

Fall semester: from late October through January 26
Spring semester: from late April through May 2

Fall semester chamber ensembles will perform at Wartburg Senior Living on January 26, 2020. The Spring Chamber Music program culminates in the annual Conservatory Chamber Music Festival on May 2, 2020 with the student showcase concerts.
