Radiologic Technologies Program

Q: What exactly does a radiologic technologist do? What jobs can I get with this degree?
A:  A radiologic technologist is responsible for producing quality diagnostic images through accurate positioning, radiation protection and quality patient care. The degree can provide a foothold in the health care industry, with fieldwork experience that can lead to careers in health care administration and management, or advanced certification for CT and MRI technology (additional licenses required).

Q: What is the career outlook for a radiologic technologist?
A: Employment data projections reveal strong growth potential for Radiologic Technologists, beginning with a median starting salary of $55,910, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Q: I have my associate’s degree. Can I get credit for the courses I have already taken?
A: Students entering with an associate's degree will be granted advanced standing for courses in the prerequisite degree, completing major courses in the Radiologic Technologies program toward a BS in Radiologic Technologies. The program also accepts first-year and post-baccalaureate students.

Q: I am a transfer student, what is your credit policy?
A: Non-science credits will be evaluated by a case by case basis. Science courses, such as anatomy and physiology,  taken in the 3 last years will be accepted. For more information on our transfer policy, please contact our Admission Office.

Q: How are classes scheduled?
A: The Bachelor of Science in Radiological Technologies is a full-time, daytime program. 

Q: How long does the program take to complete?
A: The program is a 122-credit hour curriculum.  Up to 60 transfer credits may be accepted. 

Q: What are the program requirements to remain in the program?
A: Concordia College students are required to meet the following program requirements:
• Maintain a minimum final grade of B in all required program courses.
• Maintain a final grade of C+ or better in required support courses.

In addition to the mission statement, the Bachelor of Science degree program in Radiologic Technologies prepares students to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists national certification exam. Student progress for all students will be reviewed each semester for retention. Students who fail to maintain the minimum GPA and required grades will be placed on academic probation and will be referred to the Student Success program.

Being placed on academic probation does not ensure timely completion of the program nor does it ensure your continuation in the clinical portion of the program. Any violations of the Concordia Code of Conduct or legal violations will place you on academic probation and removal from clinical portions of the program.

Q: What clinical placement locations are offered?
A: The program currently conducts fieldwork rotations in medical centers including CityMD, NYU Langone Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Helen Hayes Hospital, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Montefiore New Rochelle, and University Diagnostic Medical Imagining.

Q: Can international students apply for this program and sit for the AART national licensing examination?
A: Yes. Please contact the Admission Office for more details.

Q: Can the AART licensing examination accommodate students with learning disabilities?
A: Yes. Please contact our Radiologic Technologies Program Director for more information.

Q: Does Concordia provide transportation to clinical sites?
A: No, however many locations are accessible via mass transit.

Q: How far will I be expected to travel?
A: Students will be assigned to at least three of the clinical agencies listed above during the two years in the Radiology Program. Students must be willing to commute up to 100 miles, in total, at their own expense for clinical rotations.

Q: Will I have to pay out-of-pocket for program-related materials and equipment?
A: Course fees (for which students can use financial aid and scholarship funds) limit out-of-pocket expenses. Students will need to purchase white sneakers on their own, however course fees cover all of the following
