All graduates and guests are invited to attend.

The Celebration of Service is a program to commemorate service in scholarship and the world. The program will celebrate the works of the following:

  • Servant of Christ Award - Hawk Newsome ‘03

Bronx native Hank Newsome is a 2003 Concordia alumnus, a trained attorney and prominent activist and president of Black Lives Matter Greater New York.

  • Servant of Christ Award - Dr. Bruce Kintz

Dr. Bruce Kintz is an accomplished mission-driven leader who currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for Concordia Publishing House, the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.

  • Volunteer Service Award - Lana Phillips

Bronxville resident Lana Phillips, a passionate philanthropist, is a former tax attorney who serves in her community and abroad. She has served Concordia as a board member of our Conservatory and the OSilas Gallery Gala Benefit Committee.


Lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15pm in the Commons and Schoenfeld gym. Tickets are required and can be purchased for $16 (with cash, credit or debit card ) in the Commons before or on Commencement day. Graduates will receive three tickets with their cap and gown, one ticket for their use and two for their guests. Graduates must present a ticket and meal cards are not permissible.

2-3:30PM | Meyer Athletic Center (MAC)

Doors open for guests at 1:30pm. Tickets are required.

1:30PM | Graduates line up for Commencement in the indoor tennis courts area within MAC. Graduates, please make every effort to be on time; latecomers will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.

Overflow seating and livestream of Commencement in the Sommer Center. Tickets are not required.


Financial clearance for Commencement must be completed with Student Accounts by Tuesday, April 30, 2019. 

Letters will be mailed to your home address and you can check and pay your balance through your Banner Self-Service account.  

Financial obligations to the college must be met by Tuesday, April 30, 2019.  This is a firm deadline; please speak or meet with Denise Hopkins or Rosalin Gutierrez of Student Accounts with questions or to make a payment (914) 337-9300 ext. 2115.

President and Mrs. John Nunes will host a Cap and Gown Pick-up Reception during the Graduation Fair in Schoenfeld Campus Center from 2:00 – 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Snacks and light beverages will be served. Champagne toast at 6pm. You will receive your cap and gown (yours to keep), plus four Commencement tickets for your guests in the Meyer Athletic Center (MAC).

We recommend pressing your regalia (gown) for a crisp look on Commencement Day! 

If you cannot attend this Fair and Reception, Contact Nereida Quiles-Wasserman 914-337-9300 ext 2147 to make arrangements to pick up these items in the (Feth Hall main level) from Monday through Friday May 13-17. 

NOTE: Graduates attending off-campus locations who are participating in Commencement will work with your program Director to receive your cap and gown and tickets.

Each graduating student will receive four (4) tickets for their guests to attend the Commencement ceremony in the Meyer Athletic Center (MAC).Tickets must be shown upon entry.  Seating in the MAC for Commencement ceremony will begin at 1:30pm.

Guests without tickets will be seated in Sommer Center and will watch the Commencement ceremony via livestream.   

Students participating in Commencement will receive a diploma case.  Six to eight weeks after May 31, 2019, diplomas will be mailed to the address on the graduation application. If you prefer to pick up your diploma instead of having it mailed, please contact Nereida Quiles-Wasserman (914) 337-9300 ext. 2134.

Parking is available at Sommer Center, in front of Romoser and Rippe Halls, on Rose Avenue east of White Plains Road/Route 22, and at the Meyer Athletic Center.  Guests may be dropped off on the circular driveway in front of the college, but there will be no parking on the circular driveway.  Handicapped Parking will be available.  Please note that if you do not have a handicapped permit, your vehicle will receive a $65 ticket. Please follow directions of parking attendants on Commencement Day.
